About us - Snowball Fight

Mission Statement – Our mission is to create innovative games that are fun to play.

About Snowball Fight

Snowball Fight was originally designed by Michael back in the late 80s. Since then, he’s worked on it off and on creating prototype cards and rules along the way. In 1999 Michael & Jim started brainstorming various business and product ideas. This included designing and selling games, including Snowball Fight. Finally, over the winter of 2000-2001 they decided they had to fish or cut bait and in the spring of 2001 S & S Innovations was born.

Snowball Fight took a back seat to other projects at first, but then in December of 2001 Snowball Fight began to take shape. Game development, industry research, end-user testing and the building of a solid Business Plan consumed the first three quarters of 2002. The fall of 2002 was filled with final touches, the creation of this web site, and the debut of our new family card game in mid November.

We’d like to express a GREAT BIG THANK YOU! to all of the family, friends, and testers who have helped to make this game GREAT! Including all of the new friends that we’ve made along the way!

About the Owners & Designers

Michael and Jim are friends and business partners who have both spent a lifetime preparing to launch this product and company.

Michael comes from a family of entrepreneurs. He grew up in a household where both sets of grandparents – as well as his own parents – ran successful businesses. He learned from day one about hard work, dedication to the customer, building sound relationships with vendors and the necessity of taking care of the details. Michael used that background to propel him through school (BS in Management Information Systems and a Masters of Business Administration).

Jim too grew up in a family of entrepreneurs that believed in education (BS in Electrical Engineering), learning outside of the classroom and hard work. Through his parent’s side business he learned the intricacies of producing products and interacting with customers. This diversity of experiences has lead Jim down a very eclectic path as an adult. Jim's daughter is also providing him with a new set of experiences.

Michael and Jim’s personal traits are a balanced combination. While they share substantial common ground, there is also a wealth of diversity in their experiences and thought processes. In playing and working together for the past ten years, they have developed a substantial respect for each other and their differences. Although either one of them is capable of launching this product on their own, together they make a formidable team.

Jim is the unique combination of a very animated and engaging – engineer. In work or leisure, Jim is social in nature and tends to gravitate towards opportunities to interact with others. The engineer persona however is never far behind as Jim takes in mass quantities of information, quickly determines what needs to be done and systematically designs the approach that will get him to the desired outcome. Jim naturally uses this approach in most situations – whether he is trying to beat an opponent in a game of Ping-Pong or solving a complex technical problem. Now if he could only beat his daughter in a game of Snowball Fight!

In contrast, Michael tends to be more creative and introspective. Michael is seldom satisfied with the tried and true approach. He would rather give each decision careful and thorough consideration and then thrives when finding a new idea or way to conquer the problem. This process begins with “think tank” time and ends with a creative flurry. You’ll find that Michael uses this methodology in his approach to designing games but it doesn’t end there. It’s the approach he used to find a wife, landscape their home and compete on the croquet court.
